She said she was fine
the sentence that had become
a default setting in her brain
letting her oblivious to reality
but no one is really fine
in the dark
speaking to the voices
in their head
fighting the demons
haunting them
all on their own
and crying to themselves
all through the night,
getting ready to face the light,
no one is fine in the light
with only themselves in sight.

It is alright to admit one is not fine. The first step for healing has to be taken by us. Take care. ❤️

The first step towards healing is accepting that one is not fine 🙂

We smile on the outside, but within; the darkness is what they can’t see. Within there’s a fight, the darkness and the light; which one will emerge victorious? So you smile, you pretend; that the tears they see, still means you’re just fine!
Even though others can see a light, they still have no sight; to what’s happening inside! Lovely piece!

You are such a fine writer and you know how the heart works. Being fine is a reflex, just like when someone sneezes and we say bless you. Saying I’m fine is a common answer, and your poem tells it correctly. But to uncover a layer is to discover truth, and if the question is sincere in how one is, happiness will be a find and not just fine. Lovely post based on reality.🌹🌹

You in real sense have extracted the essence of this poem and described it so beautifully, I can’t thank you enough for that 🙂
Yes, its all about how considerate and compassionate one can be while asking the question, it all truly depends on that one act to comfort the other 🙂
Thank you so much for your special words 🙂 🙂

One can’t make a good comment without a great post and that’s exactly what you put out lovely. Being fine does depend on the sincerity behind the inquiry and it starts there❤️

Everyone is scared to unveil their vulnerability … everyone is scared of prejudices of the society so “I am fine” is a mantra to put on the facade……….you have spoken of truth …that too poetically 🤗

I just cannot agree with you more, we live in a society which is too judgemental sometimes, and showing your vulnerability works against you in such a situation and then we live well hidden under a mask of being fine 🙂
Thank you so much, for sharing your views ❤

fine can have so many other meanings, if someone cares to listen

Oh ! how very rightly said, its just about the intention of asking the question, and having the patience and understanding to listen between the words 🙂

Very on point and well written. It seems I too as we all must default to “fine” especially when it is the complete opposite as we choose to suffer internally, silently.
Lovely!

Yes, its just easy sometimes to avoid the conversations after accepting one isn’t fine, and using ‘fine’ and suffer internally 🙂
Thank you so much for stopping by and sharing your kind views 🙂

I absolutely loved reading your poem.
When no one is there to judge us we have the opportunity to expose our true emotions and disregard the socially acceptable, “I’m fine!” Here’s to my personal journey to reset the “I’m fine!” default setting – https://thesoulwhispersblog.com/2018/10/06/youre-fine/
Thank you for your beautifully written words!

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment 🙂 I really appreciate it
Judgement is a reflex in a society we live in, people will judge no matter what you do, so as you said ‘I will feel and I will decide’ that’s the best thing we can do to ourselves.
I loved your post ❤
